Global Council for Arctic Urbanization
As polar ice melts at record speed, once-inaccessible land and sea routes are opening up. Nations such as Canada, Russia, the United States, Norway, Greenland, and Finland are competing to establish new infrastructure, resource hubs, and transport corridors across the Arctic Circle. Simultaneously, indigenous communities, who have lived sustainably in these environments for thousands of years, face unprecedented threats to their sovereignty, culture, and ecosystems.
