Dear Delegates, Sponsors, and Guests of HIMUNC IX,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the ninth iteration of the Henrico High School Invitational Model United Nations Conference, held January 16–17, 2025, at Henrico High School in Richmond, Virginia.
For almost a decade, HIMUNC has created a safe and controlled environment where students are inspired to debate and share their opinions. It is our mission to help create the next generation of young leaders. It is our honor and privilege to host an event where so many students are passionate about problem-solving and collaboration. This year, HIMUNC is featuring six exciting committees, ranging from the thrilling debates of The FIFA World Cup to the complex challenges of Space Governance.
For HIMUNC IX, our theme is “The Warrior’s Path: Courage in the Pursuit of Global Unity.”
In a world where conflict, division, and uncertainty are consistently a part of our lives, The Warrior’s Path reminds us that true strength lies not in the fight, but in the courage to seek a better understanding. HIMUNC has made it a priority to challenge delegates to reach the expectations of a modern warrior, one who fights with words, empathy and diplomacy. Whether you are tackling climate crises, fighting for human rights, or working towards peace, delegates will walk the Warrior’s Path guided by courage, unity, and the commitment to better the world.
Each year, HIMUNC strives to make a difference in our community. I am extremely grateful and proud to announce that we will be supporting Shalom Farms, a non-profit organization based in Richmond motivated to build healthy communities by growing and sharing natural and nutritious food. Shalom Farms works to ensure that regardless of background, everyone has access to fresh and healthy produce. The secretariat and I encourage every delegate and sponsor to contribute to their mission and help us to leave a lasting impact and legacy.
Reflecting on my time at HIMUNC, I have been lucky enough to experience it from many perspectives. As a freshman volunteer, I learned the importance of being prepared and curious. As a sophomore chair, I learned that solutions don’t come easy, but with patience they will always come. As a junior serving as Director of Charitable Giving, I learned the power of teamwork and leaving behind a legacy. And now, as a senior and Secretary-General, I learned to be grateful for every chance and opportunity HIMUNC has given me. It gave me the opportunity to lead, inspire, and give support to others trying to find their voice.
On behalf of the entire Secretariat and staff, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all who make HIMUNC possible. Your continued passion and dedication allow us to carry forward this tradition of diplomacy, collaboration, and growth. I cannot wait to see the courage, intellect, and creativity each of you will bring to this year’s conference.
Thank you, and welcome to HIMUNC IX.
Sincerely,
Srihith Akkala
Secretary-General, HIMUNC IX
